Wauconda Cadet Program
Wauconda Fire District Cadet Program
Mission Statement
The Wauconda Fire Cadet Program is open to young men and women ages 15-20 who want to learn about the fire service through hands on, practical experience and classroom training. Meetings are held every Wednesday night of each month at one of three Wauconda fire stations. With the guidance of program advisers, Cadets learn all aspects of the fire service including training, day-to-day operations, fire tactics and emergency medical care.
In addition to learning, Cadets have fun and meet new people with similar career interests. Training exercises include familiarizing Cadets with different fire apparatus, fire hydrant operations, sprinkler systems, using SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus), and much more.
New classes start at the beginning of each school year, and are limited 25 Cadets. For more information contact FireMedic Alex Faczek at 847-526-2821 or afaczek@waucondafire.org
